Before i had C&Q turned on:

CPU: 47C

With C&Q turned on:

CPU: 37C

Not bad considering my case ambiant temp is 35C :D

go to silentpcreview.com they have a list of mb and stuff that support it, and another article on it.

its constantly throttling cpu speed/voltage/fan speed based on usage. most of the time cpu's are rather idle when not doing something hardcore or gaming. running at 100% is not good. i use crystal cpuid to do the same thing to my mobile barton. drops 10c during normal browsing etc over not using it.

It'd be a serious SNAFU if it didn't given the DTR version doesn't have PowerNow! It's useless to me because mine folds 24/7

C/Q with some sort of bios controlled fan throttling is a silent pc enthusiasts dream. The K8V can turn your cpu fan off when your comp is idle and c/q is on, it's pretty nice.

I can't find anything at Silentpcreview about it. A link would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Cool and Quiet doesn't seem to work for me anymore. I have it enabled but when looking at CPU-Z my multiplier is never lowered and my temps never decrease. It used to lower the multiplier when it was idle but I don't know what happened. I heard resetting the CMOS fixes it but last time I did that for a different reason it caused a few annoying problems.

Go into your power settings under the Display Properties/Screen Saver tab. Turn your Power Management to 'Minimal Power Management'

Did the trick for me when mine wasnt working.

So does it work for OCing also? Let's say I get my 3000+ to run @2.4GHz, if I install C&Q, then when it's not working, the core voltage will drop too? And when it's working will it bring it back to the voltage that I tell it to run at? I never tried the C&Q before.

From what I understand, C&Q just controls the core voltage to the CPU.

I get about the same, before CnQ was on my temps were 41-45 idle. Now they're 35-37 idle. I'm not sure what my case temp is exactly, I need to get a separate probe for that (the onboard probes measure the NB and something else, but I'm not sure)

CPU: A64 3000+
Mobo: MSI K8N Neo Platinum

Clearing the CMOS IS how you fix that. There is no other way.

hey guys, I have an k8v se deluxe and an a64 3000, but when I try to get cool and quiet running, it never actually varies the cpu core voltage, all it does is vary the fan speed, occassionally getting my system over 50 C. I've followed all the directions in the readme and such. (changed the power settings, set pm and acpi in the bios, installed drivers and software) what am I doing wrong? thanks for the help.
