I've heard great things about UE Super.fi 5 Pros. Give me a good pair of full-sized phones over canal phones anyday though.

they seem cool, however for 500$ is just buy some Grados or Senns and a headphone amp
I want ones that have a flap or microphone or something that allow me to hear background noise.. and turn it on or off. I'm sick of having to pull out my ear buds - even when music is off - just to complete a conversation..

Worth every frickin' penny IMO. If you're serious about audio, these are the best investment you will make ever. Because of the way they cut background noise, they actually save your hearing unlike other 'phones.
That video is dead on other than when I had impressions done they gave me a bite block and the doctor was nice but the lucky SOB in that video had a smoking hot doc! 😉
The Westone UM2's are definitely worth a look if you're not ready to spend $1k. They're very similar to the E5C but nearly half the list price! If you can adjust to the comfort of the "one size fits all crowd" type of phone, they would be a solid choice.

This feature can be built into your headphone amp or other device. Basically a push to talk override that pauses the music and turns on a mic that lets you hear sound through your IEM's. As an added feature it can be used as a "bionic ear" especially if you have a line in that lets you plug in a parabolic mic!
Cheers!

I'm looking around for some E4C's myself.
I've been told that in the long term headphones will damage your hearing moreso than speakers if listened to at the same relative volume. Is that true? Also, does the positioning work decently (sound positioning)? I'm currently using open air HD600 headphones and I like the way that they sound relative to closed headphones,, but I DO like the fact that closed headphones block out a lot more noise, and even moreso these. Thanks!
How's the bass? I had the Etymotics ER4P for almost a month, and I returned them because they had no bass!! I wanted to love them, because the price was so right, but it wasn't to be.🙁Originally posted by: aphex
