Stumbled across this reading an article about Bobby Jindal lol. Never realized something like this existed or that there would even be a demand for such a thing, but white folks are forever trying to be darker so why not.

Not the same thing as getting a tan.

The want to lighten one's skin come from the idea that the fairer your skin, the more beautiful, well off, higher place in society, etc. I've even heard people say that the lighter your skin the smarter you are. This can still be seen in India, and other places that have a large diaspora of people of East Indian descent for example.

It also can be seen in people of African descent but not as often.

These 'cosmetics' play into that to get people to use their products.

This stuff is for highway workers who want people to think that they are educated people who have high paying office jobs.

As noted previously, there is a market for this stuff where it was invented, India.

These type of skin creams are very common in Asia.

Sadly, they think...

Dark skin- bad
Light skin- good.

in many cultures, dark skin means you are a peasant doing manual labor outside in the fields and are basically not worth anything. light skin means you are more important and get to work inside so you aren't exposed to the sun as much.

it's funny in america we're the opposite. white people always wanna be more tan. tan skin just looks healthier imo. but, there is also a fine line between a nice tan and too fan or fake looking tan.

^Oh, apparently the link is an Indian site. You can find commercials on youtube of people using that stuff.
