so the guy gets laid for 39 years and then, all of the sudden, as soon as he decides to leak top secrets, he starts raping one woman after the other? i wouldnt be surprised if he decides to become a serial killer any day now as well.

how come if you rape women interpol goes after you but if you are a serial killer who starts wars and slaughters hundreds of thousands of people you get a us gov pension and bodyguards for the rest of your life?

You're not buying it either with his celebrity status and with women being bleeding hearts by definition. I bet he can get more pie in a week than Anandtech forums.

julian assange is not just wanted by interpol, he is on the MOST WANTED list! so in the ENTIRE world he is one of the most dangerous? since when does a mere rapist get on the same wanted list as josef mengele, pablo escobar, osama bin laden, and mullah omar????????????? the bullying and abuse that goes on on this planet by the u.s. is ridiculous

they will just kill this guy at some point. Watch. Motorcycles and magnetized explosives done. Message sent.

That's what was thinking. There's no sense in doing character smear, when you can just do the kaboom solution.

Smear is better. You delegitimize him. His site. His work. His info. killing him just martyrs him. Plus you don't think he has some real juicy incriminating stuff he is saving as an insurance policy against that eventuality? You think he's an idiot?

WTF are you talking about?

Zebo didnt list enforcing the law and defending the citizenry. He said prisons, executions, domestic surveillance and war.

Only in your warped little mind do those translate into what you wrote. Are you insane?
Yes, you're right: it takes a really twisted bastard to equate prisons and war with law enforcement and national defense. Don't you think it's about time to stop eating paint chips?

Now that he is going after a big bank (pretty sure its BAC) he better sleep with one eye open.

Its one thing to fuck with states secrets, troop movements, etc.. but you don't fuck with the banksters.

There was an article up yesterday that said he had some dirt on the Russians, too. If true, then IMHO releasing that would be a bad, bad idea in Mr Assenge's part. While the US would spend time hand wringing over the legalities, over damage control, and over what is the Face Saving way to handle the situation while preserving national dignity. The Russians... won't.

It's because Julian doesn't expose secrets from JUST the US government, he's done it for other governments as well. If something 'happens' to him, there's always a possibility that it could be another government that did him in (or a coordinated effort)

Release documents, get a warrant for rape. They don't even try to make it look reasonable.

It's a world wide conspiracy i tell ya, one that involves Swedish women, three DA's and two courts in Sweden, one EU investigation and one Interpol evaluation, everyone is corrupt and out to get Julian Assange.

It's almost as big as the 9/11 conspiracy at this point and it's growing each and every day.

If he flees, it's because the accusations were wrong anyway, if he goes to court and is freed then thank god that they didn't get him on these false charges, if he is convicted, well then that only supports the conspiracy theorists case...

I learned a long time ago that you can't win against conspiracy theorists so this is my first and last post on the subject in this thread.

Keep your tinfoil hats on tight.

Interpol say that Sweden required on Nov.20 to set Assange on its "wanted" list
Wikileaks announced the recent leak on Nov.22
It happened on Nov.28
Interpol put it on its "most wanted" list with press-release on Dec.1

holy coincidence ?

I think there is more about this than they tell us.

Silent blackmail ?
"retaliation" ?

Something along the lines of a shot across the bow. If Mr. Assange continues with the leaks, governments will up the ante.

I agree. Somehow Sweden managed to construct a machine that allows them to see 2 days into the future and didn't tell anyone about it.

No time machine was required. A number of news organizations and all governments involved knew that the leak was coming months and months ago.

US embassy cables: The job of the media is not to protect the powerful from embarrassment

The US government was told in advance the areas or themes covered, and "representations" were invited in return. These were considered. Details of "redactions" were then shared with the other four media recipients of the material and sent to WikiLeaks itself, to establish, albeit voluntarily, some common standard.

The state department knew of the leak several months ago and had ample time to alert staff in sensitive locations. Its pre-emptive scaremongering over the weekend stupidly contrived to hint at material not in fact being published.

USA were hoping he wouldn't dare to publish, and maybe he
didn't want to, but then Sweden
put him at Interpol-list and by their logic (encrypted 1GB file !)
they did release some of the cables.
Assange thinks USA is behind this Swedish prosecution.

I have an idea, let's get a secret unit together - call them the plumbers, they fix leaks - and break into his psychiatrist's office and find dirt to smear him with.

They already dropped the charges once and now they're bringing it back. It just sounds like they're trying to keep the story in the media to discredit him.
