I kept waiting for Dawson to show up and start fvcking whining about sh!t.

heh yea.

and its not as if the studios are gonna say the real reason for not hiring/firing someone. kinda like the whole bs stated reason of wanting to spend more time with the family when people resign;)

I saw this movie tonight and her performance was a weak link in the movie. She is not needed in a sequel.

The guy playing Batman was probably the best Batman to date.

Whenever she was on screen I mysteriously started hating the movie, but once she left it was paradise. Good riddance.

Holmes Dropped from 'Batman' Sequel

Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman have signed to star in a second Batman movie, but love interest Katie Holmes has been dropped. Movie bosses are thrilled with the response to Batman Begins - it took $46.9 million in its first weekend at the US box office - and have snapped up the film's stars for a sequel. Bale as Batman was the first to put pen to paper, followed by Caine as butler Alfred and Freeman as Bruce Wayne's business associate Lucius Fox. But Holmes won't reprise her role as district attorney Rachel Dawes - reportedly because Warner Bros is angry her engagement to Tom Cruise has stolen media attention away from the movie. A source tells Pagesix.Com, "Everyone is in agreement that the movie's strength is with Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman." Adding of Holmes, "She won't be in the sequel... the next romantic interest will be a much stronger actress. Warner is happy that people are now focusing on who'll be playing the Joker rather than Katie and Tom."

haha screw WB

If Katie actualy marries him, she won't need a movie role. Tom can probably buy Warner Bros. :p

She's not even hot. She lacks facial symmetry in a big way.

She looks and acts horrible on the big screen, so they didn't sign her back. She's just another one of those actors/actresses that can't move from TV to movies.

And didn't we already have a joker? How can anybody top Nickelson?

I don't see how anybody could top that sick sonofabitch

as much as i dislike Tom Cruise, i think he'd be the only one even close to Jack at that role.

would be ironic if they let Katie go and then hired tom cruise wouldn't it.

I really, really liked the first Batman with Joker. I don't think they can top that by making another Joker movie...

Not surprised - pretty much every review I read pegged Holmes as the "low point" of the movie and several said she didn't fit well in the role and that the lines seemed too much for her (ie: bad actress)

The movie was good, but any sequel to the movie will suck hard. It will be impossible to do the joker properly, and most of the other batman villians are lame or too goofy. I think them not signing her was a good career move for her. Its funny, but when I walked out of that movie, I looked at my wife and said " Man that is a great movie. I loved it." Then a few seconds later after she agreed I said "I hope to god they dont make a sequel."

Holmes did a horrible job in that movie IMO. Now Bale was just fvuking awesome as Batman. Might even say he's better suited than Keaton suice he's better built...
Bale even managed to portray the darker side of batman pretty well

No loss here, I didn't get the impression she would be returning again anyways, the way she said something about finding her when he was done being a hero or whatever at the end.

Mark Hamill would be perfect as the darker/insane Joker. I just hope they do a little more character development than metro Scarecrow.

Maybe they'll cast Lohan. Hope she's looking back to normal by then.

Uh, no
I'm voting for Elisha Cuthbert... and I don't really give a sh1t how well she can act. Just as long as she looks as hot as she did in "Girl Next Door."

For all of you talking about who "The Joker" might be in the second film, I urge you to take a look at this:

Interview with DC Artist - Lee Bermejo

He draws his take on Two-Face and The Joker, but I don't quite get why. They don't introduce it or say what he's drawing them for, he just puts them there. I would guess that this is what he thinks they should look like in the movie, so let's just go on that assumption.

His take on Two-Face
I didn't like this at first, but I'm growing to like it. I just don't see how he can make sense if he acts like either one personality or the other. It's a tough one.

His take on The Joker
This one is PERFECT! I hope to god this is what they put in the film. Nicholson was close with the smile that was always there, but I think that this kind of scarring is more what you would expect from a guy that was driven crazy by his deformities.
