It said on the news lastnight that Pheonix was only at 7% of it's average yearly rain fall so far.

Odd thing is that we are still trying to put them out. Anyone remember the Yellowstone fire a few years ago? We tried for months to put that out and failed, but mother nature put it out with one snow fall. Perhaps we should just protect where we live, and let the fire run it's course otherwise. It's a good way to clean out the dead plants and revitalize the soil anyway.

The blaze, more than 100 miles northeast of Phoenix, behaved freakishly, gobbling ground even at night, when most fires ease. The smoke cloud was visible in downtown Phoenix beyond Camelback Mountain.

It formed a superheated tornado that sucked flames hundreds of feet high, then spit them back out, spewing embers that sparked new blazes.
