Holiday Inn

Not trying to throw water on the fire so to speak, but I was coincidentally trying to book a hotel in Chicago at a Holiday Inn yesterday and checking out their "21day Advance Book" deal.

Thinking 2nd night would be free I could only assume this would be better...here's what I found:

21 day advance: $96 per night, no refunds if cancelled
great rate: $149 per night
2nd night free: $200 + $20 per extra adult surcharge

Basically it's their "standard rate" half off with the added hassle of booking as a single and "smuggling people in. Hardly a big deal I guess.

The other thing I didn't like was that when you're checking for "best available rate" it doesn't mention the two deals together. Pretty shady.

Not a bad deal, but just wanted it known if you're willing to book 21days + in advance and WON'T need to cancel, it might be a little cheaper.

a few quick tips being that i work at holiday inn:

1) most holiday inns do not accept entertainment coupons (even though it says they do)
2)def. sign up for priority club, it's free, you can give your business address, and you get free drinks, breakfasts, and papers, local calls, and extended checkouts
3) the buy one get one deal isn't always the best deal on rates, you can usually get a better deal if you call the hotel first and check their availability, if they are empty, call the hotel directly and "bargain" with them, ask them waht the rate is, then ask if that is an every day rate etc. usually because they are empty they have the authority to sell rooms for much less just to get people into them
4) it may sound dumb, but after working as a bellman and desk clerk, a tip to either when it is not needed will get you MUCH better service. If someone tips me when they check in/out, i notice, and i do treat them better, and it need not be large to be noticed

hope that helps everyone
