I ended up going to a hole-in-the-wall place for lunch today. Not a word of English was spoken, but I ended up with food.

Wasn't too bad. Sign on the wall indicated that tacos were 2/$1 from 4-7. Might have to try it at dinner time.

Best hole in the wall taco place I ate at was off of Apache drive in Tempe, AZ. I think it was just called "Salsas". $2 got you a burrito rivaling Chipotle's in size...but with authentic made by a Mexican taste 🙂

I grabbed a breakfast burrito once and asked for a cup of coffee...they gave me a sytrofoam cup and what must have been a 15 year old jar of foldgers crystals. And in broken english showed me where to get hot water.

😀

OP you're in Riverside, if you want Mexican food Tony's is pretty damn amazing.

I have not tried this Fiesta Taco though so I should give it a try

/goes back to munching on his Carne Asada + Bacon + Egg + Cheese burrito from Cotijas.

Tacos are uber tiny, I could probably eat about 20 of them.

I might try that. I love trying different mexican places.

20 is like really stuffing yourself as a skilled buffet eater. 2 was quite satisfying, and 4 would've been a really satisfying meal.

that ain't a hole in the wall taco place, that is a damn restaurant.

the true hole in the wall taco places are the taco carts on the side of the stree, or the little taco shops in cali that are all pickup/to go.

the best one i had was Raymones by Pacific Beach when in San diego.

and pfft ... you didn't even mention Fish Tacos ... needs Fish Tacos to even stand a chance.

lolol who cares.. it's a shitty looking restaurant place, which i consider hole in the wall.

I have fish tacos all the time, they're bomb as hell, el taco nazo kicks so much butt for those. But you don't really find fish tacos that come with a kick ass side for 50 fifty cents now do you? FAIL!

Around here there is a place called Camp Taco that is decent. It reminds me of El Farolito in SF just not as good, or sketchy. 🙂

HAHAHAHAHAHAH that's a random picture I found on the internet and I'm in it.

Man, who the hell wants to eat under a canopy, in a plastic chair on a hot afternoon? And Mexican food of all things... Mexican food needs to be enjoyed at home, in air conditioned comfort and within striking distance of a clean toilet.

Best Al Pastor I've had came from this place in Wilmington that I cannot fucking find anymore. I can't even remember the name as I've only been there twice. I'm pretty sure though that Al Pastor is the meat of the gods.
