Autoblog reports:

"Police have been investigating the crime spree since January and say engines and transmissions worth more than $2.5 million have been stolen from the plant. The engines, meant to power VE Commodores (formerly known as the Pontiac G8 in the States) sell for $10,000 each through Holden dealers. The stolen engines, however, were going for as little as $1,500 on the black market..."

Remind anyone of the Johnny Cash song?

Wasn't Australia the place that was originally populated by convicts? Anyone know if they teach inventory control in their Business Schools?

Apparently there was "no effective tracking system" of engines and transmissions at the plant and therefore very little way to check where incoming inventory ended up.

"Duuuurrrr, how come we shipped in 20,000 engines but only shipped out 10,000 cars duuur."
Supposed it would be easy to do if you could get the shipping recieving guys in on the gig.

Australia: The world needs a new australia. Somewhere we can send all the idiots. Then maybe after 100 years their decendants could be rehabilitatable.

Parts disappear from down under...
