I used to watch this regularly back in the sixties and later, but it's been years since I saw any of these. It's safe to say that there's some real cornball humor, but it could also be clever and stylish.

Did you like any other campy humor, such as Green Acres or Get Smart? If so, then you'd probably enjoy a look at this.

Perhaps I'm dating myself, but I have to admit I kind of enjoyed the series.
Get Smart > all other "classic TV" shows though.

My opinion is in between the top two in the poll. I consider it funny, but not LOL funny.

Yeah that show was pretty good. It was before my time but they showed it regularly on one of the channels here for a while. I caught a few eps here and there. Oh, and Get Smart was awesome :)

Interesting observation: How well do you think a show about an Al Qaeda terrorist camp holding some American prisioners would go over right now? :)

knowing how uptight americans are now? i would guess very very very poorly.

They would be offended at every aspect of that show and then some :p

plus beheading jokes (which i'm sure would make their way in there) would probally be in poor taste, even in farse humor.

A wonderful thing about Hogan's Heroes:

Like many TV shows before video tape, it was shot on 88mm film, which transfers wonderfully to high definition and looks as crisp and clear as if it were shot last week. It was also shot tall and wide and then matted to fit a 4:3 TV, so it can be matted to 16:9 very nicely

HDNet has been showing HD conversions of the show for a couple years now. It looks beautiful.

One funny thing though: You can tell the sets were never intended to be seen in high def. The snow on the roofs is obviously spray painted on and the walls of the cave are obviously just painted paper. And once you can see the trees in the outdoor shots clearly they are obviously SoCal trees.
