Someone pretty much has to die for there to be an opening. That's how my friend got in 8 years ago. Ever since then I had been trying to get in with him as a connection. No dice. Some dude finally got busted for something and got fired. Even then I had to wait an entire year before they hired me, after the background checks and all that bs.
The pay is per game and it sucks @ss but the fringe benefits rule. I wasn't even that big of a hockey fan but after realizing how much play with the ladies you get and how fun the job is, I was down. The regulars get groups of tickets for the friends and families. I'm an alternate and only get paid on the days someone isn't there (which sucks) but I can go to whatever game I want to, walk around with my NHL gear, all-access pass, trying to floss like I'm the man...and I'll tellya, working that penalty box...
I mean, it was like the coolest thing in the world, sitting there next to gigantic, pissed off, American/Canadian/Russian/Czech guy getting totally pissed because of the fight they just got it as they yell at you, "When am I out!!?!!" and I'm like, "I told you 3 times dude, 4 minutes and a whistle!!" and then you jack that door open and they blast there way past you, slamming the door into your skull....
Normally I just get to do stats, but that penalty box, oh momma.![]()

So far the coolest new rule is the puck drop rule. That don't screw around anymore. At that first pre-season game, they were dropping the puck so fast, on one face-off the King center wasn't even turned in the right direction; dude just dropped the puck and the coyote took off with it. haha.

As the **OFFICIAL** Red Wings fan of AT, I simply cannot wait for the puck to drop!Originally posted by: Garet Jax
Hockey season is about to start!
No doubt!!! I can't imagine working a Penalty Box. It HAS TO BE so intense! (Tell me that you were just a little concerned that dude might "forget" that you aren't on the other team.Originally posted by: murphy55d

Dude you are my fvcking hero. I would kill for a job like that.
I think it's totally lame. What's the point, anyway?Originally posted by: murphy55d
Speaking of stats, what do you think about the NHL dropping hits and blocked shots as official stats?

I'm so excited. Finally!
I'm a huge Ranger fan and I splt a half of a season (I got about 11-12 games) and I'm going to the home opener on Friday night. Have been for the past 10 years, but every season it is still very exciting. I'm pumped.
