That is sweet. I would strongly consider giving up my job here to work for the NHL. Well, for the Capitals, specifically. How'd you go about applying for a job like that? Or did you know someone ? What's your salary like or is it game by game?

Someone pretty much has to die for there to be an opening. That's how my friend got in 8 years ago. Ever since then I had been trying to get in with him as a connection. No dice. Some dude finally got busted for something and got fired. Even then I had to wait an entire year before they hired me, after the background checks and all that bs.

The pay is per game and it sucks @ss but the fringe benefits rule. I wasn't even that big of a hockey fan but after realizing how much play with the ladies you get and how fun the job is, I was down. The regulars get groups of tickets for the friends and families. I'm an alternate and only get paid on the days someone isn't there (which sucks) but I can go to whatever game I want to, walk around with my NHL gear, all-access pass, trying to floss like I'm the man...and I'll tellya, working that penalty box...

I mean, it was like the coolest thing in the world, sitting there next to gigantic, pissed off, American/Canadian/Russian/Czech guy getting totally pissed because of the fight they just got it as they yell at you, "When am I out!!?!!" and I'm like, "I told you 3 times dude, 4 minutes and a whistle!!" and then you jack that door open and they blast there way past you, slamming the door into your skull....

Normally I just get to do stats, but that penalty box, oh momma.:)

Dude you are my fvcking hero. I would kill for a job like that.

Speaking of stats, what do you think about the NHL dropping hits and blocked shots as official stats? I think blocked shots is the most underrated stat of them all...

For one, I'm bummed out for the guy who USED to have that job.:(

It doesn't make sense to me, not counting block shots, hell, when those guys dive on the ice and block some of those streaking pucks with their freakin ribs??? That should freakin count for something. All the Hockey geeks online made a huge deal about it. So far the coolest new rule is the puck drop rule. That don't screw around anymore. At that first pre-season game, they were dropping the puck so fast, on one face-off the King center wasn't even turned in the right direction; dude just dropped the puck and the coyote took off with it. haha.

I'm so excited. Finally!

I'm a huge Ranger fan and I splt a half of a season (I got about 11-12 games) and I'm going to the home opener on Friday night. Have been for the past 10 years, but every season it is still very exciting. I'm pumped. :)

That is so not cool. I was in a game 2 weeks ago in the finals and our center wasn't even in the circle yet,... he was looking back to see if the goalie was ready and the ref dropped the puck... the other guy took a quick shot and it almost went in. We could've lost the championship game because of that f^cktard ref. It's the finals, let us decide who wins... d0uch3bag. We won after a 21-round shootout (and guess who had the winner?). You guys had to be there. I would give TheEvil1's right arm to have that game on tape.

How do you think they will do without Byron Dafoe? I know you have Steve Sheild but he's getting long in the tooth.

No doubt!!! I can't imagine working a Penalty Box. It HAS TO BE so intense! (Tell me that you were just a little concerned that dude might "forget" that you aren't on the other team. ;) )

I think it's totally lame. What's the point, anyway?

How do you guys feel about Cujo? Still has not really proven himself in the post season but with a team like the Wings it's gonna be hard to lose :)

I'm a Toronto fan, but I would like to see the Rangers finally get some return on their investments :D

In all honesty, if I was a Rangers fan I would be a little worried. If Lindros takes a hit or two, his career could be over (and along with it a good part of the Ranger's chances).

A bunch of years ago (when Lindros was drafted by Quebec), I went into a CD and record store and literally bumped into Lindros's back. He was a lot bigger than I would have expected.

I like San Jose or Detroit this year for the cup.
