Hockey Question

I'm watching Sportscenter and some Flyer, Lupul, i think, had a hat trick and I guess its tradition to toss your hat on to the ice when I player gets a hat trick. SC showed the crew using a wheelbarrow to collect all the hats thrown on the ice. What do they do with them? Do you go get it back at the lost and found? or do they just donate it to charity?

I know next to nothing about hockey so please don't flame if this is an idiotic question. Just curious.

Many arenas throw them away. Charitable organizations require things like money, food, clothing... sweaty baseball caps is not high on the list for these people.
