I was watching the Sabres - Bruins game tonight on TV. One of the Sabres defenseman took a puck in the face cutting his lip and knocking out a few of this teeth.

When asked about his injury after the game, one of his teammates laughed and said "he ain't too pretty anymore."

These guys are nuts.
 
I wear a full face shield, you aren't going to cut up my face.

I don't understand why people don't wear at least a half shield. I wear a metal cage now, but my plastic full face shield has a number of nice marks in it from people's sticks. I'd rather those marks *not* be on my face thanks.
 
I played neighborhood and organized hockey as a kid before facemasks. For the games on flooded backyards we didn't wear any protective equipment and for the organized games we had a helmet with a piece of plastic covering the mouth.

Thankfully, I never took one in the chops.

I can't understand why more players don't wear mouth guards.
 
John LeClair lost a tooth, via a stick to the mouth, during the Olympics. He went to the locker room, got a few stitches in his lip, and came out a few minutes later. He not only finished the game, but also scored a goal.

And that's not untypical... it's hockey. I don't imagine very many players in any other sport doing that.

Hockey players a quite tough. But I don't know, I'd certainly wear a face shield if I were playing. I guess some people see not wearing masks as more manly.....I think its stupid.
 
Ah.......... remember when players didn't have to play with helmets 😀

yeah,they lead toothless, concussion filled existences with no hope for the future other than not getting knocked the F*ck out by a bruiser on the other team
 
i played roller hockey for a few years, never got whacked in the face, wasnt the nhl though...

hockey = TEH BEST!
