Hobby motor question

Greetings all,

I'm trying to put together a little motorized seesaw for 2 teddy bears to ride on. I'm going to build something from scratch out of wood similar to this toy:

I'm going to connect this shaft to the middle of the board:

and mount a small hobby motor with a reduction gear to turn the shaft.

I only need a few turns from the motor in each direction to make the seesaw go up and down. Most motors are reversible so I assume I would need some kind of controller to make it switch back and forth.

Any idea how to do this? Thanks.

reversing a motor will take more power and will wear it out quickly. use a mechanical linkage to do change the direction instead of a motor control.
