HOA trying to get WWII vet to take down his flag pole

I don't know where a guy wakes up and thinks to himself I'm going to have breakfast, read the paper, and then tell a war hero to take his flag pole and shove it up his ass.

The most amazing part is the HOA doesn't even specifically restrict it. "Aesthetically pleasing" my ass - That's total bullshit.

This starts a bad trend? Yes, heaven forbid other War Hero's might want flag poles too.

How dare they prevent him from displaying his symbol! He fought for the ability to worship symbols!

It's a symbol of the country that he fought 3 wars for. It's also the symbol that he's grown to respect daily for the last 70 years of his life.

So yes, GodlessAstronomer, fuck you. Why don't you get off your "my fucking life sucks so I'll be a beautiful being" ass and do something of importance for the world.

Why do you have to belittle the guy? Other than the need to feel superior, was there any reason? Are you really that small of a man that you have to demean those that have achieved greater stature than you're capable of?
That man earned his rights, he was awarded the highest honer that this country can bestow. You, on the other hand, are little more than an internet bitch. Go away.

Because he hates himself. He's admitted it before on these forums.

frankly, that doesn't even seem that bad...

if they want it removed that bad.. just wait till he passes away. let the man fly his flag.

Because he agreed to the HOA terms when he moved in.

What gives some 3rd party organization any authority over that stuff anyway? It should be up to the city, but regardless that's really stupid, even if it was the city making that decision. Have respect to the ones who faught for that very land.

He did when he signed the agreement to abide by their rules and live in their community.

No one is arguing the service he provided for his country, but just because he's a hero doesn't mean he gets to break the rules.

Bullshit. Your statement had nothing to do with his contractual obligations. It was an attempt to make the man look foolish.

Actually it was my usual commentary on symbol worship. I think the man is brilliant and brave and should be respected for what he achieved. But I don't think symbol worship is the appropriate response.

Don't turn it into a flamefest just because GA should probably move to the US and serve on an HOA board. He was born to be a bureaucrat.

This will be in the local news. I'll be sure to post the (favorable for the vet) resolution when I see it come up. If shit like this manages to fly in Virginia, I'm moving. Well, I've wanted to move anyway, but I still don't expect this BS in this state.

HOAs are bullshit and I will do everything in my power to make sure I never have to deal with one.

Having said that, the man signed the HOA agreement and was well aware of the policy when he did so. War hero or not, he doesn't have a legal leg to stand on. The best he can hope for is that the societal backlash shames the HOA into allowing the violation or modifying the agreement.
