ho ho, strange q: effects of denatured alcohol on dockers polyester enhanced nanotouch

hi

somehow i was working with an epoxy while wearing a pair of Dockers "100% polyester enhanced nanotouch"

well now there are spots of epoxy all over my pants

the epoxy manufacturer says denatured alcohol is the solvent for this epoxy

so im thinking ill just let the pants soak in the sink in a pool of denatured alcohol overnight

anyone have idea what this will do to the material/coloring? (they are light grey pants )

i know denatured alcohol is just grain alcohol + poison so ppl dont drink it. im not sure what the poison is or if it might also have some bad effects on fabric and dyes

Are they the 'stain-resistant' ones? You might get away with returning them, since they failed to resist the stains.

well its strain resistant,not proof. so they got plenty of wiggle room, let alone with epoxy lol

alcohol can lighten or remove dye. some people say using hairspray can get ink out of clothing....its the alcohol in the hairspray that does it. which means you either have no ink if youre lucky, or ink and a hairspray stain, or ink and color out around it, or no ink and no color

if theres a good drycleaner nearby (i wouldnt bother with a one-price or discount cleaners as they *usually* dont do as much spot-removal) id try them. we have chemicals that can often remove glues and such without damaging the color. talk to them about seeing if they can remove it. im not sure whats typical, but if a customer approaches me with a difficult or unusual stain, i dont usually charge them if i cant get it out. ask them to try one spot and see if it will come out, and tell them otherwise you wont be interested in having it cleaned.

try using this to locate a drycleaner

Good idea! Everybody knows that heat helps whiten whites, so toss a match in that docker's/alcohol combo. Stain will be gone in an instant.

ok, so if i soak the entire pants in a pool of the denatured alcohol they hopefully it will dissolve the glue and equally lighten the dye of the whole pants!!!!

its not a certainty it will remove the dye, but theres a good chance. particularly with abrasion so i wouldnt try brushing or scraping the spotted areas at all.

and we call them "pants" or "pair of pants"...whole pants? wth?
