Well my Primary Care doctor is great. If he thinks I need a test he has me do it right away. I do multiple blood test a year, and if he suspects anything he sends me to a specialist with a follow up with in a few weeks. It is great.

sounds like you have a good doctor then. like mechanics and attorneys they are hard to find.

yea, I also like how his gives up a bunch of free samples of meds to save us money. Example I need a 10 day antibiotic a few months ago. Instead of having to pay 25 for it, he gave me the 10 pills I needed for free.

i have a PPO right now. after about 2 yrs of spending half our lives at the doctors to make sure we are all healthy, i'm going to switch over to an HSA.

you are probably right, for someone young, no family, they are probably better off with an HSA.

HMO = good enough, you won't die and/or get stuck with huge bill. At least that is how I think about my HMO plan my employer gives me.

HMO also means the doc gets paid pretty much the same no matter what he does to you in the office. in other words, it's really to his benefit to get you in and out as quickly as possible.

PPO and POS will often pay for more time spent by doctor.

Not all doctors are like that though with HMO.

My doctors doesn't rush me. He has a convo with me asking about how im feeling, how is school, we go over blood work, he explains to me what the blood works means. He ask me if I feel the medications are working. I am over weight and he talks to me about my weight. Tells me I need to lose weight. Not rushed at all. He even jokes with me. I have talked to other people who have him and he is like this with them too. He seems consirned for our health.

I dont think the Pharm reps intended for him to give me 2 month supply of Clarinex for free either.

DVK, that's how it works.

Glad you have a good doc.

-edit-
yes, the pharm reps did want him to give you a 2 month supply of a drug you now know by name.
