So, in a nutshell, we all got gifts from the boss today. I got an iPod Touch!

Got me the 16GB version, so it's $399. Got it from Costco, so that's good.......but.......

These are my exact sentiments on the unit........

Wondering if it would be worth exchanging for even a 4gb iPhone???? (Actually, 8GB iPhone is apparently $399 now, which is the same as this 16GB Touch)


(Went to show the wife the first video & realized that, unlike my sister's iPhone, there ain't no speaker. No speaker = no "Hey check this out")

Well, since Apple's product line is strictly priced, its market value is pretty straightforward.

That said, $399 for this vs. $399 for an iPhone, it's quite easy to compare feature for feature.

I bought two lately. One for me and one for a close friend thats tech challenged. I've never been an "ipod" fan, but the touch is so nice to use and operate.
Maybe the article was written by someone from verizon? They are trying to push their own version of a 'touch" device. NAturally, with verizon you have to pay for everything you do with the device. Ipod touch phones can not be used on the verizon network.
I like my ipod touch!
 
I will trade you my 8GB iPod touch for your 16gb 🙂. Hack it man, its an amazing PDA once you jailbreak it. And no worries of becoming a brick like the iPhone.

(Plus, I also noticed that you don't just *get* an iPhone for $399. You have to sign up for service, so looks like the Touch is a keeper regardless).

So then what of this "jailbreak" crap???


(I started to read a thread, then saw jailbreakme.com, then saw "don't use it, it'll toast your ipod, then I saw, "hey, I used it, it works fine, etc. etc.)

I assume jailbreak=unlock, but what is there to unlock in an ipod???

I'm not an Ipod person, and never really cared about portable mp3's players at all really. But the Touch is freaking amazing. I bought one but ended up returning it because my PC took a huge dump and I needed almost $400 to fix it ha. I will get another Touch soon though. Out the box it was really cool, when I did the Jailbreak it was beyond cool.
 
Keep the Touch and stay away from the iPhone. The trouble with the iPhone is in it's very conception. With the Touch you can listen to music and watch Rick Astley. But if you have the iPhone then people can and will call you. Avoid this. Stick to the Touch.
 
If you take it back to Costco will you get the full credit since you opened it? If so, you have $400 to blow at Costco. If someone didn't put an iPod in your stocking is that how you would spend $400 at Costco? Don't you hear the siren call of snow tires? God's own treasure trove of pickles?
 
Seems to lack some rotational features of the iPhone. (Doesn't rotate everything, all the time, like iPhone. Only some stuff, some of the time).

However, looking at some peole do the jailbreak thing on youtube, looks promising for much fun.

Still, dunno why they wouldn't have made the dang rotation exactly like the iPhone.

The iPhone does not rotate everything eithier. Also Jailbreaking the touch lets you add third party apps and the applications from the iphone it is missing.
 
sell it and get a 32GB Zen IMO

you still save like 50$

yes the zen is a 32GB FLASH based player which you can put a 16GB SDHC card in and have 48 Gigs of Flash goodness
