first off, i have no romantic/affectionate feelings for this girl...she is a friend and probably will stay that way...

well, the thing is, we were playing around...and i ended up taking one of her stuffed animals and she took a rather expensive possesion of mine. Keep in mind that there were no hostile feelings when that occurred. I ended up returning the stuffed animal to her 5 minutes after i jacked it. She didn't return that "rather expensive" possession though.

I asked her to return it, but she said "no" in a playful way. Since i really didn't need it at the time and was in a hurry, i decided not to play games and crap and get it back tomorrow. So tomorrow comes and goes...she says she forgot it. Well now that it's thanksgiving weekend (no school)...she IMs me with something on the lines with this:

her: i uh, kind of lost your [insert expensive posession here]
her: but know that i'm your friend!
her: and that i love you very much [as a friend]
her: and that friendship is more important than material things
her: you can always buy another one...but u can't replace me!
her: i hope you enjoy your dinner!
********** signs off at 5:25:43 PM.

That is kind of exaggerated. I'm really not that angry right now. I don't want to ruin our friendship over something little like this.

She signed off before i could respond, so now i'm comtemplating what to say. The item she lost was worth more than $100, less than $200...and i don't want to ruin our friendship over that.

What should i say to her when she gets back on?

thanks

btw, she lost my glasses. They were prescription, she cannot easily replace that herself.

She needs to return your glasses to you, if she has somehow (??) lost them then she is obligated to pay for your replacement pair, ASAP. It has nothing to do with valuing money over the friendship, she took 'em, she should replace them.

Well, if you say you have no romantic feelings toward her, treat her as you would a buddy. If one of my buddies broke/lost my glasses, he'd be paying for my new pair. If it was something not vital to my daily life, *maybe* I'd let it slide, but $100-$200 isn't exactly cheap.

So tell her you'll order a replacement pair, and give her the receipt.

Don't be suckered up to what she had said. Yes, you can't replace her but what do you do to everyone that loses your stuffs and say that to you??

IM her back, since friends are more important, why don't you forgetabout the materialistic part and buy me a frigging new pair!

Yup.

Make her pay for them..seems simple enough.
She's got no business taking your glasses.

and if she refuses

dont get upset

get even

go to her place, and "playfully" take something of hers of roughly equivalent value

hold it hostage or threaten to pawn it

just dont take expensive makeup...itll just look bad on your part

for that matter, dont take the cheap makeup either
