Hmmm...what Dell laptop should I get...

Danman

Lifer
My boss said buy yourself a new laptop. He said try to keep it under $3500 but if it goes over that's cool. I need to get something in the Dell line since we have the docking stations here and I'd like to get something that docks with the D-series docking stations. Not necessary though.

Help me spend this money! 😀

d600/800; or even better; the x300.

X300 is nice too. The 600 and 800 are heavier, and if I had 3500 to spend, I'd pay the extra premium for a lightweight laptop.

Oh and also this needs to be something that I can carry around to classes too...so I need something relatively light, not a brick. My boss has the Precision M60 and that's not that bad, but it's heavy.

Oh, and I need two get two LCDs, he said I can dual it if I want to.

HELP ME! 😀

I realize it's not Dell, but $3500 will get you this.

I saw one at CES last year, and it's unbelievably thin and light. Gorgeous nickel-carbon finish.

Holy fvck!!! That thing is thin.

Buy my T41, here! I know it's a little under what you're looking for, but I'll give you a good price if you're serious 😉

Otherwise, $3500 is a helluva lot to spend on a laptop...I imagine you're looking at a desktop replacement?

Wish I could buy it from you but I have to buy it from a distributor or our reseller unfortunately. 🙁

Who cares? You're not going to be doing anything on a 10" screen that requires any serious horsepower anyways. Plus the X505's 1GHz PM isn't that much faster. The performance throttling of the Efficeon does kinda suck though, I agree.

hmm...actually, I don't know how you'd get 2 other lcds running off a laptop though. 😕

Docking station, it has one DVI and one analog on it. My boss and my co-worker do it already.

This isn't a dell, but it is certainly something cool to look at (whether you buy it or not). If your boss says $3500, and going over is cool too, show him a custom laptop from go-l and see what he says. Rocks are cool 🙂

Cool, never noticed that on the X300 mediabase.
