Hmmm...this tells me Microcenter will be discounting

That Gigabyte z77x-ud5h board looks nice for $139. If I hadn't jumped on the 2600k deal I would have been down at Microcenter tomorrow for that board and the 3570k.

Can you order online and pick up at the store? I don't see the processors online at MC yet.

Yes thats what i did last year. Between 5:30am to 6am ish is when they start updating the inventory online.

Which cpu did you want to order?

@ OP

Do you work for microcenter? Even I don't have that news letter yet? Any i7-3770k mobo combos? :'(

My MC doesn't have any 3770K or 3570K in stock according to the MC website. Booooo!

Question: Does MC typically begin discounting their remaining inventory of the prior generation of intel processors (i.e. 2500K, 2600K, 2700K) when the next is released?

I'm still kicking myself I missed the 2600K deal for $200. I would like to see that again and would pass for a while on IB if that deal returns.

I keep refreshing the screen but no updates yet. I hope this doesn't bite me in the @%$. Last I had the 2600k ordered by now and was waiting on the confirmation email to pick it up

Only bad thing is waiting for the confirmation email. I hope i get it earlier this time but i think i got my confirmation email like 5 minutes before they opened.

so 189 for no hyper threading and 349 to hyperthread is there any other reason for the 3770 seems like an easy choice.

Not at all, besides 100Mhz for a 3% difference. Unless you REALLY need 8 threads for some task that simply cant wait. Usually above 4 threads tends to be non realtime tasks.

So no, I think most people buy it due to the "what if..." mentality. Waste of $.

I dunno, I'm a bit wishy washy at the moment. Probably the 3570k along with one of the boards, but I'm a bit conflicted. I could go for the 2500K as that also works for the MB combo deal and I would probably end up with a higher overclock and get away with a cheaper cooler. My other thought was to just go for the i5 3450 and the low end Asus board. The mentality there would be to spend less and upgrade more often as opposed to trying to buy something that lasts a really long time. I think you get much more bang for your buck that way, but that would normally be done with the 3570k over the 3770k scenario and would make total sense.

The only reason I throw the 3450 in there is that my needs aren't that great at the moment and I'm going to have a busy year away from my more intensive computer related tasks. By the time I'll need the power, Haswell will be out and should represent a significant leap. The 3450 also has some of the virtualization features, but I don't know if the sheer power of the faster processors, especially OC'd would make up for that or not. Not even sure if that's worth it over dual boot anyhow.

People are mentioning the Sabretooth and the Asus Deluxe as combo deals, but I'm not seeing that in the ads? Just the P8z77 V-LX and the Gigabyte UD5H.

It appears you can get the combos online from the web store atm:

LOL, I noticed that as well and was able to checkout. Only $6.98 for shipping. Sounds too good to be true though. I ordered the Gigabyte UD5H board for only $139 which is supposed to be the after rebate price. Waiting for my cancellation e-mail 🙂 But if it is true, their site is about to get hammered.

I just got the 2600k deal with the lame UD3H board a couple weeks ago and already activated Win 7 on that build. Good thing I have one more Win 7 license just in case 🙂

You know you can activate a Windows 7 license on several computers right?
