The killer is $200 or less. E-bay or craigslist for a used one. Any new one at the price (and I have yet to see one less than $237) does not do well indoors. Use http://www.camcorderinfo.com as a reference to compare models.

BHPhotoVideo currently has the Canon ZR-500 at $220 and a Samsung for the same price. That is their lowest price (B&H is probably the best online reseller of ANY eseller on the net). You can find a bunch of low-ends in the $250 range.
