hmm, MLK apparently plagerized parts of doctoral thesis...

yeah, knew about that too. too many people glorify him. he was a black racist, no better than a white racist.

the world depresses me 🙁

That's going a little far... However, the crazy glorifying of him makes me wonder a bit too. MLK didn't magically grant black people fair rights; there were millions of people behind it. He came around when the movement had already gained momentum. MLK isn't black history.. he is merely a small part of it.

not exactly.

i oppose affirmative action, i oppose constitutionally appointed equality. however i am not racist.

the problem is the black community either has no respectable leaders, or dont want to recognize them because they have different views than the black community traditionally holds.

Everyone does it in the way it's been asserted. You think everythought you've written over hundreds of pages was original?:disgust:

the state of america today is ridiculous... reversed racism is praised everywhere, ie. affirmative action... its all gone too far... i don't oppose equality, but its ludicrous to give someone an edge simply because they're a minority...

Care to explain that in terms non racists can understand?

I think what he meant was "constitutionally enforced equality" in terms of socioeconomic status, achievement, etc. I don't think he meant "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

idiots. constitutionally appointed equality means simply guaranteed forced equality on the basis of how u are treated. let me put it this way. if i have a house i want to rent out, i should be able to rent it out to whoever, and exclude whoever i want from it. that should be my right as owner of the house. but constitutionally guaranteed equality demands otherwise. that's wrong.

everyone should have the ability to go where they want and do as they want. in an ideal world, things like college admissions, job filling, and all that would be based off merits, not off race at all. I am opposed to the quota system in all it's forms. i am opposed to affirmative action in all it's forms. i am opposed to treating any ethnicity above any other. that sum up my position well enough for idiots like you?

jacka$$... calling me indirectly a racist. i really hate that.

Trolling Trolling Trolling. Is there ANYBODY you don't call a racist you fvcking racist?

MLK was a great man IMO, but he definitely had his share of shortcomings. Plagiarism was the least of his problems.

Way to leap to conclusions there, Jello. I don't consider myself a racist, however I oppose the month we are now in, Black History Month. If they truly want equality (which I think most blacks do, but their leaders do not) then why create things like that? Why can it not be part of history?

EDIT: Shortened quote

Chill out Jim.... Did you even read what I highlighted with bold??

The whole anti-affirmative action tilt going is a cover for closet racists. You can be against affirmative action, and NOT be a racist. However, every racist is against affirmative action.

To say that affirmative action isnt fair ignores reality. I go to the University of Texas at Austin. Blacks and hispanics are HORRIBLY under-represented in enrollment. Why? Are they in any way intellectually inferior to whites? Is there a genetic shortcoming only found in minorities that prevents them from being capable of achieving a college education?

I say there isnt. Why then would minorities not be likely to make it to college? I say it is our society. The society that we have now makes it extremely difficult for blacks or hispanics to be able to get to college. That means, racism works as a function of our society. To say that we should look away when race tries to become an issue is accepting racism.
