IWill Ali Magik board vs Gigabyte AMD760 board The ALi seems to have a small lead.

Not sure if these numbers are accurate, but it's KT133 vs KT133A vs KT266 (the sight is german but the clip is in english).

I've see a picture of the Asus A7V266 (KT266) and it has 3 SDR DIMMs and 2 DDR DIMMs. From what I've heard the A7A266 will have the same memory slots, and should be available a bit sooner.

I want SDR and DDR slot (DDR is too expensive to be worth it yet but I want to be able to upgrade to it).

So I'm looking at the Asus A7V266 (KT266) vs A7A266 (Ali Magik 1). I know it's a bit early to tell definitively...but there seem to be alot of unhappy Via users out there, and I had a Socket7 Ali chipset that I like way better than Via's socket7....haven't heard much from Ali lately, but I'm just wondering what people's impressions are.

All links, and some of the info are unscrupulously ripped from this thread ;)

Most benchmarks around the net are showing the ALI chipset to be slower then the Via KT133A unless it's paired with PC2100 DDR, and even then it barely manages to outperform the KT133A and is beaten by the AMD760.

I'd say wait and see how the KT266 perorms when boards based on that chipset start appearing.

I think...:

"you're looking at the wrong brand".

I'm very anti-asus for a billion and one reasons.

IWill all the way... get yourself a KA266-R (Magick1 based)
