That's not very good, is it? I did a lot better on the ACT (lucky for me, since I live in the midwest and that's all most of the schools around here look at), but still, disappointing....

So take it again

Edit- its not too bad. Gets you in many places, but would be hard to get into Harvard or Dartmouth. Depends on your goals.

isn't the best 1500? or 1600? I only got like 1120 or something. Forget. Was a long time ago.

I feel like I'm surrounded by high school kiddies on here. No wonder I'm not able to see eye to eye with many people on here... big age difference.

Don't worry - I made a 990. Beat that buster!!!! I also made just a 22 on the ACT. I took both when I was in the 10th grade, and never took them again. It was enough to get me a a 4 year 75% paid scholarship to any school in Florida (Florida Bright Futures), and a buttload of others. Still feel sad? ;)

I got a 1340 on my first try and decided that was good enough for me. Don't sweat it too much because if you actually meet an advisor/college "recruiter" in person, most (I hear) look at performance in high school and total family income. I was a bit screwed when it came to family income, but I guess I showed them that I was willing to do whatever it took to get in (i.e. student loans up the wazoo).

If you're not satisfied with the score you got, then take it again and combine the best scores together. I considered doing it but like I said, I figured what I got was the best I could do at the time.

Good luck.

You came into a thread where people were discussing their SAT scores. If you walk into a fish store, are you surprised to be surrounded by fish?

What school do you plan on applying to? Unless it's an Ivy or rather elite private school, 1230 is good enough for any major public university, especially with early admission. I got into all the schools I wanted with a 1220 and decent grades (slacked majorly Fresh/Soph years, picked it up Junior/Senior)

1230? thats not too bad, itll get you into most of the okay public UCs. bump that up 150-200 and you can get into places like berkeley and ucla. just retake, you can retake as many times as you have the $$$ :)

unless you want to go ivy league or something, where you need 1500s :Q

well, maybe grades and activities make a difference as well. the only experience im speaking from is that my cousin scored a 1390 on her SAT and got into berkeley. strange thing is, she didnt get into UCLA.

also, my other cousin did a 1520 on his SATs, got a 4.0+ GPA and got into Upenn, rice, brown, cornell, etc. etc. BUT, didnt get into stanford.

also, a lot of my friends did 1300s and still got into UCLA. which leads me to believe there are other things involved. since my cousin got rejected from LA while people with lower SATs got in. i guess theres a lot of factors, maybe the major picked etc.

its funny though, my brother about 10 years ago scored only 1290 on his SATs, and got into berkeley and UCLA. i guess competition is a lot tougher nowadays.
