I think i've hit the wall, it's definitely not heat that's holding me back tho...

idling @48'C right now, loading @61'C.

no artifacts, it just fails the stupid riva & coolbits tests...

That's a good overclock! Especially for an AGP version. My PCI-E 6600GT on the same cooler got up to 585/1200 before it started giving artifacts. Have you tried OC'ing each thing separately? Leave the core at stock and raise the mem as high as it will go, then write down that or remember it or something. Then, set the mem to stock, and OC the core as high as it will go, and remember that too. then raise both to their highest speeds, and if it fails the test, start backing down on the mem. Core speed > mem speed.

hmm, interesting. So i'm core not mem bandwidth limited primarily? I can set the mem lower & get the core higher i think (i had it up to 607 iirc).

Why can't you get an app that lets you set the speeds without testing it? I've never seen a single artifact with my zalman so far :p

Coolbits? It tests but it didn't stop you from applying something it thought was unsafe last I was aware.

Nah, it tells you they cannot be applied until you have tested them. If it fails the test it then sets the clocks back to what you had saved :(

In RivaTuner you can go to the "Power User" tab at the top, find "/overclocking/global", open it's tab and right-click on "Disable Clock Test" to turn the lightbulb on.

Do this and you shouldn't have to test the settings before you apply them.

Be CAREFUL though, I've scared myself once already by applying the wrong frequency by accident (re:stupid mistake) ;)

Hope that works for you :)

That's a very good OC for stock volts (except for the mem, but I am spoiled by mine). As BIOS-based voltage modding is not possible with the 6600GT, I suggest the hardware mod.
For the AGP-version, you find the manual here Applies for other brands with same layout, too... :)

That's a good OC already!! Wish I could get mine close! Have the same cooler as you too. Good to see your still pushing though. Give it hell!!

Umm, perhaps it's your GPU limiting your overclock? Your OC is pretty good I wouldn't be complaining at all!

a 20% videocard OC is good. i was thinking about getting one of those for my 66gt since it loads 80-83c, and doesn't overclock very much. i think my fan is moving too slow. where is the cheapest vf700?

hmmm, i'm getting random hardlocks in games (no artifacts), that's more likely a core problem than a mem problem right? AT 610 core now...

You have hit a wall dug, face the facts. You can fight the good fight, but at the end of the day your 6600GT will still be a 6600GT ;) .
