Bought a 50' gray CAT5 cable off of eBay for $2 but the shipping is $9.99. Was this a good deal or was there somewhere I could of bought it cheaper?

Think I could some how talk the dude down? I did it before with a book that was $8.50 to ship and got her down to $5.

Home Depot sells cat5? 😕 Dang, if I'd known that last week, I'd have been in business. I bought 100' a couple of weeks ago a local cable shop, but I'm 2 1/2 hours away from there at school now and need 50 more feet and I'm trying to find 50' as cheap as possible. Any idea how much Home Depot sells 50' for?

I never knew this either. Fvck.

EDIT: Linked

I think it's like 5 or 7 cents/foot. You do need a crimper and some jacks sitting around though, because they sell the bulk cable, not the packaged kind.

Ahh, nvm then. I don't know how to do that nor do I have crimpers and RJ45 jacks.

OT... so that's how u spell "gyped"...

thats how ive always spelled it
i think it has to do with gypsies.
and 9.99 to ship?
he made some $ off of you.
still i guess 11.99 isnt bad, probably cheaper than you can get one @ a local PC store.

I got 120 from Lowe's for under $10 plus the rj45 connectors. My roommate had the crimpers already.

Also got 14 gauge speaker cable there as well. 250 for $50. Much cheaper than any other stores I've seen.

I haven't paid the sh!tbag yet, I'm going to try and negotiate and say how preposterous it is. Here's the culprit's address for you who live in NY to pulverize, steal his CAT5 and ship it to me at a reasonable price.

Right, he sucks because you are bitching about shipping costs that you were well aware of before even placing the bid. Let's not take responsibility, just blame someone else! Yah!

It's happened to me before where I pay $10 to ship only to find on the sticker $3.98 when I receive the product. WTF is that?

yah, but this is an auction dude. it SAYS $10 shipped when you bid. If you don't like it, why did you bid???? Or at least email the guy seeing if he'll budge on shipping before you bid.

That's crap. You knowingly won the auction for $12. Don't screw the seller now. Negotiate before you bid and definately before you win. chalk this one up to experience and improve for next time.

That's called hiding the price in the shipping. Obviously you are too stupid to realize it!

He is not charging shipping, he is charging shipping + premium. His price is set low to get people like you to buy. He makes his money on the shipping.

Take my advice from my previous post. Live up to the deal you made.

I'm not stupid, I realized that but the price is still very good.

Then why are you complaining about the total price now?

If the price is still good, then pay it and learn for next time.
