Hmm. Delete Serivce in Gmail really means BEND OVER

So basically I needed some professional advice on visas and immigration, and I want to ask Google Answers. I create an account with a bad username that is attached to my account. Oh, I'll change it, I think.

So I login to Google Accounts and I click on Delete Service. It says "Accounts in Google API, Google Answers, and Google Languages will be terminated". I think, good, no Gmail. There is a seperate button for "Delete Gmail".

So, I delete the service. And BOOM. I can't login. I can't reregister to save my emails because Google states that my account is still in use. My password hint isn't mine.

So, Google, since you are all about ease of use - just rename the Delete Service link to BEND OVER.

So now, as if to tease me, Gmail Notifier still works. I can read the first sentence of each email as I get them. But I don't know the reply emails nor do I know the content. So, my Gmail Notifier can still login.. while I can't.

i don't get it. you clicked the wrong button and it's their fault?

They state that it will erase accounts that use API, Answers, Languages, but NOT GMAIL. That's a seperate link, whcih I did not click. I needed to erase my Answers account because I created a bad username (your Gmail username is not your username for Google Answers).

So, in thinking I was just recreating my Answers account, Google wiped out my email access too.

FYI, if you "need" it I wouldn't rely on a free google service. What would you do should they close doors tomorrow?

FYI2, you can download your e-mail and save it yourself.

FYI3, only Google can solve this problem, you can post here all you want. 😉

edit: oh, and since I haven't seen one in a while...

<nik> WRONG FORUM!!! </nik>
