Okay, here's the computer:

Abit BD7m motherboard
Pentium4 2.0A ghz CPU
256MB Kingston RAM
Gainward GF4 Ti4200 Video card

Okay... all that happens when I turn the computer on is an endless series of identical beeps... all are foru seconds long, seperated by like 2 seconds. They continue on for forever. The PWR light on the motherboard is red, but the STB light is green.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong?

Sounds like it could be a problem with the cpu. Was it working before or did you just put this system together and turned it on for the first time? Have you tried reseating the ram/cpu and other components?

Are you sure it goes on forever? how long have you actually let it post for? because some post error codes can be 10+ beeps long

Really? Because i just got the CPU (retail) brand new... the motherboard is used, however...

What would you guys suggest that I do? I don't really have any spare P4's lying around to test it out.

And yes, it does go on forever... so far I have 15 beeps and still going...

I tried different RAM and a different slot and made sure it was seated correctly... still nothing...

I also tried another AGP video card and a PCI video card

Anyone else have any ideas?

I've tried reseating EVERYTHING!!!!!!! event the northbridge heatsink... I totally don't know what to do next...

Anyone?
