Hmm... can't get a 40GB Maxtor to show up as DMA in Win2k

Any idea what's wrong? This is 40GB VL 5400 rpm HD (NOT in my computer, thank God, I have 60GB 60GXP ). I have it DMA-enabled on both the primary and the secondary channel. CD-ROMs show up fine as DMA, but for the HD it shows 'DMA if available', but currently in PIO mode. Obviously this is slowing down the computer quite a bit. Any ideas?

same prob here... i think it is my mobo K7M.... it is a bit slower than the 15G 7200 i have as back up...
