They're not made anymore and (relatively) rare. They're supposed to be removed from circulation, although not all banking institutions adhere to the policy.

Wrong, they started reprinting them three years ago when they had the new quarter design.

Yup, they're generally only available by request, and usually only around holidays like Christmas. You can buy books of 20 I think from the bank.

*sigh*

Man, you really do just make stuff up in every thread you get to, don't you?

They, obviously, are not very popular but they sure as heck are being printed. There is a local grocery store chain that will slap on a santa sticker over the face of Jefferson and sell the $2 bill for three bucks as "Santa Dollars."

Just go to the bank and you can get as many 2 dollar bills as you want. And as a bonus, they'll pull a Leprechaun out of your Ass, for Free!!!! And 2 of them during the Holiday season.

You've never heard of a two dollar bill? Are you eight years old or have you been living under a rock for your life?

Read, he said he just came to US for 2 years.

notice his question came before we learned that fact : )

I have only lived here for 2 years. So yeah.
Well, that explains it. They used to be very common, in fact they were re-issued recently.
I know of several people who have been hasseled by dumbass Fast Food managers who aren't aware of them either.
There was a great story on Craigslist Rants and Raves from a gal in Sacramento who had the cops called on her cause the stupid Taco Bell manager thought she was trying to distribute counterfeit money.... Like who's gonna phoney up $2.00 bills????

Link to Taco Bell $2 bill story.

I had some great fun last year when I lost a bet, and paid it off by getting brand new $2 bills from the bank then had them made into a gummed pad at OfficeMax. I made the guy agree to peel them off the pad when spending them, which caused massive consternation with cashiers. 🙂

LOL...never thought of that.

I guess if they put a cardstock under the bottom one, they could then be put in a checkbook cover.

What fun!

😉

Yes they exist and are in circulation. Like others above have said, they had their production stopped, but recently they started again. Go to any bank and you can get as many as you want - they cost $2 a piece though.

My father-in-law uses them quite a bit. A $2 bill is the perfect tip for a couple eating out at a moderate priced restaurant. Think $5-$6 meals with $1-$1.50 drinks for two people. Thus a $2 tip is quite reasonable and adds a little fun to the day.

Wow....I can't believe noone's mentioned it yet.....the $2 bill is synonomous with "Strip Club Tender". At least around here anyway. No matter how you pay, you get $2 bills as change. Not a bad idea for the strippers if you think about it.

If you pay for something with a $2 bill around here one only assume you've recently been to the Gentlemen's Club 😉

Oh, and I like this thread because it's the first time I've seen others finally calling out Nik for the fvcktard that he is.

in college me and my buddies used to get $2 dollar bills to get into the $3 frat parties, in the dimly lit entry, they would always think we handed them a $5, and give us 3 ones in change.
