Thinking gold but not 110% sure. Valve only states that this is the pre-load and once the retail version is released the customer will have the online purchse option to activate.

no, not gold. the preload is just art and such which is already final.

It is final code like textures and sounds but far from the complete game. It will probably be a couple more months.

No, the game will probably be out in October or November.

Where are you getting this? I'm reading Mid Sept, late Sept at the lastest from the HL2 forums. I even heard September 2nd, but I doubt that.

There was a shift in all the retail dates recently to November 1st. Nothing is set in stone but most shops changed their dates about the same time. It is a wait and see.

Man I actually had hope for the sept 2nd date, as it was about a month after doom3. I thought maybe doom3 would pressure those guys at Valve to get off their asses and finish the game. Of course, maybe they are working pretty hard on the game, but man these shifting release dates just don't stop.
