hey thetwatman why the hostile comment because the only moron on this thread is you.

There is zero chance that you are ignorant enough to believe the code theft made them miss their initial ship date. In order for them to have made their Sep2K2 date the game would have gone gold and been sent out for printing by the time the code theft happened. They were never going to make that date, the theft simply gave them a reason to get out of it.

Why would the "theft" of the code have anything to do with their progress to begin with? Anyone who would know what to do with that code should be able to decompile the data on the CD that ships... so what's the big deal?

decompileing code isn't nesscarly as easy as it sounds, and unlike haveing the sorce code it is a hell of a task to exctract code that will recompile.

oh nemesismk2, geting called a moron isn't really any skin off my back when it is done by the guy who said "my sorce also indicated..." when you had the same damn sorce. 😀

This has got to be one of the most successful marketing ploys ever in the gaming world.
Hey man, just be glad they weren't promising you a copy of Duke Nukem' Forever. 😉

😉 Simple logic

maybe Valve realized how crappy HL2 was and they had to redesign it from the ground up?

HL1 sucked when it was first developed, it's probably the same for HL2.

At the beginning of development perhaps, when they had no colours in the engine's pallete besides brown, grey, and red, and the game was called "Quake 1 1/2" 😉

G3pro IIRC, one thing that had surprised me was that the game was easily playable on my Pentium 233MMX with a serviceable Diamond Monster 3D 4MB, and on my friend's P2 266, it ran like a dream.

maybe i should have rephrased what i said:

HL1 wasn't special almost immediately after its release (within 1-2 months) because of other games that were being developed (Deus Ex, etc).

HL2 was 'HOT' when it was supposed to be released, but now that it has been delayed constantly, it is being shadowed by Far-Cry, Doom 3, UT 2k4, STALKER.

one of the game's highlights was its physics but now every game out these days has the most advanced physics, on par with HL2. in fact, HL2's graphics are being surpassed as more games are being developed for DX9/openGL. you get the idea: HL2 is losing all its uniqueness as time passes.

if u want to see a kick ass game with outstanding graphics, I highly recommend checking out the Far cry demo, it killed my Geforce 4, 4200. It looks amazing with all that vegitation, water effects and real-time AI. Could be a contender in the best looking and playing FPS 🙂

those reccomended requirements are without a doubt the highest i've ever seen, game runs great tho! 🙂 Thanks for the link!
