HL2 Timedemo & R7 engine?

I'm trying to benchmark my system's HL2 performance, and ran across the article here reviewing card performance. I had to get the recompiled demo files since Steam auto updated my engine to version 7. The resulting scored were less than half of what my card (6800nu) did in the review tests. However, I'm wondering if this has something to do with a change in either the source engine or the way the new timedemo files were created. My 3dmark05 and 03 scores are right were they should be, so it seems strange the HL2 timedemo scores would be that low.

Are there any sites out there that have BOTH timedemo files that run in R7 AND current benchmark results for comparison (that were tests with R7!).

thanks,
m

Yep, I know. That's where i got the files to begin with. What I'm trying to find out is anyone has done benchmark tests and reported the results with the new engine and timedemos. As I said before, the scores I get with the R7 timedemos are about half of what I would expect based on the ARTICLE here on anandtech. HOWEVER, the scores in the article were done with the PREVIOUS version. Wondering if something has changed that makes the scores lower.

thanks

Mine were not as low as what you are reporting but I was wondering the same thing as my 6800GT SLI setup did not do as well as the report yet I have a faster processor.

yeah my 6800 ultra was about 10FPS slower then theirs on every test, yet im positive my processor is faster. im also using the new beta 71.20 drivers which improve performance quite a bit. maybe its because im running HQ in the control pannel?

Maybe Anand disabled sound in his review? If you're not using an Audigy, apparently onboard sound can slow HL2 down noticably.

Anand said the new demos should be comparable to the first, so it's probably a config issue on your end. Check to see you haven't enabled "reflect all" or something like that.
