HL2 stuck

So, well, I am at the very first jump on the highway level. I've used turbo, it does seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

Fair enough, I shall continue my use of Wikipedia as an image server.

The Gap in the Highway, along with the buggy

The view from inside the buggy, from the tunnel immiediately before the gap; I am randomly firing the gauss gun

The view from inside the buggy just before I hit the ground when trying to unsuccessfully jump the gap.

This is quite annoying, because everytime I fall, I have to deal with those pesky spider monkeys. Is it just me or do they look exactly like the aliens from Starship Troopers?

you cant make that jump. you fall down to the beach and follow it around to the various thumpers and towns/houses along the beachside.

I don't think you even need to fall down to the beach. Right outside of the tunnel, you can turn right and drive down on a slope.

You're right. No, you don't; there is a rocky path to the right of the road. I know because I used it trying to get back up to jump again 😀

By the way, ravenholm was great. What's up with that father? I'm not sure what he was supposed to mean. I mean, he sounded satanic, to an extent, when he was wielding his shotgun in the middle of those flames. What the hell's that got to do with anything? I just felt that level was a huge change of pace.

It just seemed so out of place, like an old-fashioned nighttime zombie/werewolf stuck in the middle of this bright, daytime, orwellian-themed game.

I also like how Valve implemented the 'light at the end of the tunnel" motif when you exit the mineshaft from Ravenholm. But the the music kicks in and you sense something wrong. I'm not sure if what I felt was what Valve wanted me to feel (perhaps they meant it for the danger, as in the blue aiming lasers), but I sort of felt, in the trainyard, with those familiar looking apartment buildings and railroad tracks, "Oh shit! WTF, isn't this where I started?"

Is this a good thing? I don't know.

I think Grigori was just a regular priest who went nuts. He was probably a leader of a church that many of the now zombified townspeople attended (actually, he takes you to that church towards the end). Somehow, he survived... or at least until he set Gordon on his way.

i havent gotten stuck anywhere in half-life 2. the longest it took me to figure something out was like 5 min.

The last level or two can be a bit tough figuring out what to do. Not so much the fighting, but figuring out just what to do. Looking around in the last room as you ascend was tough to see.

Loved the game. I really hope they do some smaller, more frequent storylines off this. Maybe a Barney game and how he made it to meet up with Gordon in the different parts. A parrallel side story.
