So I finally settled down at home today, and launched Steam. Their news page said that they had created a 64bit version of the Source engine that would be used by 64bit processor capable systems on 64bit Windows XP.

Has anyone on XP-64 tried this and noticed a difference, visually or performance wise? I'm curious.

Yes , 64 bit mode Half Life 2 is not bad at all, 64 bit Far Cry is not good at all !
HL2, runs your desktop at 64 bit rate and the main noticable difference for detail freaks is the textures, short of that HL2 for me is smoother and prettier, but for people that still dont get into AA or AF , it may be just a waste of time , also you better have a siko pc to run it perfectly at high settings, then if your like me you will NEED a dual core if you want to record any ingame actio via FRAPS.
If you run 64 bit windows and like the little details , then HL2 is for you, if you like to stuff around with downloads and patches and corrupted garbage 64 Far Cry is for you !
The differences are minor , its still just a 32 bit game 64 bit rate patched, and you can tell, for 64 bit will open up so so so much more physic's.But enjoy anyways .
