As awesome as they are, my friends and I got a bit tired of playing the same HL2 DM maps over and over again (overwatch and lockdown), so we got ourselves a server. The only problem is that no one seems to be patient enough to download the maps when the join, so it's been pretty uneventful. So, I'm going to post this here along with the current maplist to see if anyone wants to play on some really nice maps from the mapper community.

Just add mongoose.wiresix.com to your favorites to locate the server. We're currently running 12 slots and should have the bandwidth to handle that.

Here are the maps that we are currently running. You can greatly decrease your wait time by downloading these maps before you join.

dm_island17
dm_powcamp
dm_cowgate_b5
dm_depot_rc1
canale_grande_final
dm_stoka
dm_morbid

Happy fraggin' :)

Marking this thread for later tonight! I'll be up for some DM there if there's a few people playing.

Good luck running the server, I had one up for a few months for people here and no one ever came on.

That sucks. Were you running it off of a residential broadband connection or did you have a decicated box in a data center? We tried running one of of may cable connection, and it was fine but only for a few players. So, we got a co-lo box on a nice big fat pipe. Pings are usually pretty low, but we haven't ever run with more than 3-4 people becuase of the map load time. I see people login, but they leave before they get the map.

It was on a dedicated box in a data center.

That's a shame... Although, if we don't get any more joiners, we're just not going to run it. I guess we'll run it for a while and see what happens. As long as there are good servers to play on, I guess that's what counts. I just with that there were more servers not running dm_overlook and dm_lockdown only.
