What a let down! Hmm... when is the next round of ATI (R400) cards coming out? I guess I could start saving now.
 
I can't believe this has been posted (granted, not by the same person) in more or less every damn forum! I mean what does HL2 being delayed have to do with video?? 😕

I think its a conspiracy, rumors were already floating around of a 2004 delay weeks before the news of the source code being stolen. Gabe probably put it on KaZaa to buy him sometime.

I'll be on the 2nd generation from now GFFX's when this comes out. And it will run HL2 and Doom(w/o a wrapper).

Yea, yuck it up. I can certainly live without HL2, but I'm sure this will be a blow to alot of folks that have worked very hard on it. I think this goes way deeper than some silly brand loyalty.
 
A reprieve for Nvidia, they still suck at PS 2.0 (DX 9) games. What do we have to look forward to for the holidays as far as direct X 9 games? The 2 top dawgs with new engines are off the track in the pit stop.

Call of Duty ( not DX9)
 
Dissappointing. A day after the Sox win the ALDS, this bs has to happen. I spent $350 on a 9800 Pro thinking it would be damned close to the best when HL2 is released, and now it won't 🙁...Plus the fact that I have to wait even longer for a game that I would have been well into by now with no goddamn delays. Life sucks.

I'm not sure I quite understand the whole situation, though. So, they have to completely change a third of the code for what? Or did they lose it completely, which I find nearly impossible? Are they really going to delay the game this long just so they can make it fully exclusive???

I know all about that but tbh it doesn't really interest me...don't get me wrong I am looking forward to HL2 as much as the next guy but if it takes till April 2004 so be it...I can wait, theres plenty of other stuff to keep me busy 🙂

 
You know, I betcha it was probably nVidia who stole 1/3 of the code in order to buy them time to release their next gen card. At this point, I think nVidia is capable of anything. Their next gen cards are supposed to be due out this Feb. to March. A major was is coming... prepare yourself.

Not a friggin' chance that happened. Do you know how badly Nvidia would be sued?

It sucks that it's delayed but there are other games coming out between now and then. There's Call of Duty, Max Payne2, UT2004, and if you like it Halo is available now.

So I guess now we can count the days till Doom 3 is released, and laugh at all the ATI owners cause their card doesn't perform as well in Doom 3 😉
