HL2 Besides me who kept thinking when do I get a sniper rifle!

I just remembered as I was playing the game I was really hoping to get a sniper rifle but you never get anything with a sniper quality scope. I think that could have added to the game a lot.

Define sniper quality scope. In real life, scope quality varies between $50 to $10000. In a game, you don't have to worry about parallax, eye relief, anything. It zooms to the programmed magnification, and is as clear as the developers want it to be.

i think sniper rifles are one of those FPS stereotypes that are just played out, IMO.

sniping is fun, don't get me wrong, but it's kinda refreshing to see a game not include it and still maintain good gameplay

the original hl didn't have a true sniperrifle either iirc. they both have the crossbow though which acts as a decent sniping weapon.

Tru dat... I was surprised at just how accurate the revolver was in the game. I could make any shot with the revolver that I could with the crossbow. Freakin' great.

Speaking of the revolver, this might be my favourite weapon. It pwns completely. Too bad I could never find any ammo for it 🙁

Hehehe. As soon as I thought "Hey, when am I going to get a sniper rifle?" I walked into the crossbow. It's uncanny how many times I thought "I need X right now" and got X just seconds later. You just don't get game design better than that.

I really like how the crossbow could skewer enemies bodies to walls. Awesome touch. Saw it several times before I beat the game.

I hardly used the revolver or crossbow.
I was mainly into the SMG/pistol/Overwatch gun.

The beta that came out DID have a sniper rifle. It was pretty sweet the scope had night vision and it was pretty powerful I think it was pretty much the same as the combine have as your entering city 17. They DID NOT have the crossbow though I'm not to sure what changed thier minds but I personally liked that sniper rifle more.
