I was wondering if someone could give me a break down of the all the HL2 counter strike games that are going to come out/are out already. I know there is CS, CS:Source, and Condition Zero. Are they going to come out with CZ:Source? Are they going to come out with another CS when HL2 is released? Also, which CS would you recommend?

I'm not sure I understand your question. CS:Source, is merely a port of the original CS mod into the new HL2 engine. Condition Zero is it's own standalone game that no one plays. I'm sure people will try to improve upon CS:Source... but I doubt there's even a need for CZ to be ported to HL2, other than the purdy graphics.

My question is basically are they going to release another CS with the release of HL2? And what CS do you guys recommend to play?

I'm betting that the CS numbers will swing towards CS:S once the final is out in stores with HL2.

Currently the only plan is to release CS:S with HL2.

Counter Strike Source is the main multiplayer component of HL2 (although there are other mods). It's the old CS with way better graphics and physics, and probably some other improvements (I haven't played). Valve is letting people play CSS now since it is done, when they reserve HL2.

When did CS:S come out? I went to ebgames.com and couldn't find where they are selling it.

Any help?

you can only get it online ATM.

AFAIK you buy a half-life coupon, and download CS:Source through steam. You can also download HL-2, but you can't activate it before the release date.

You can also get everything on CD/DVD, but not before the release day.

So the only way to get CS:Source now is online.

So it looks like CS:Source is the way to go. If I order it from Steam will they send me CD's when the game comes out? I know I'll be able to download it once it's available but I like having the CD's in case I have to switch computers or I reformat.

I'm assuming this is beta? Also, I went to steampowered.com and didn't see anywhere about a download for CS:S, could you provide a link plz :)

No, they will not send you the CD's. You can burn the files onto a cd/dvd yourself though.

Nope.

So I can just burn everything and move it around and that's not a problem?

I downloaded steam and see where you can buy CS:S/HL2 combo for $50, but was wondering if there was an option for just CS:S. Sorry to be such a newb at this. :(

CS:S is part of the HL2 package. It's the multiplayer aspect to Halflife 2. You cant buy it seperately.

Correct. The core files can be burned and moved around as many times as you want. If fact, you can download the files as many times as you want as well, but you can only be playing the game on one computer at a time.

Yes, you burn the files (and the steam installer - 600k, preferably) and then you can install it on as many PC's as you like.

I bought the Silver package myself and have installed it on my 3 home PC's just to make it easier. All you do is log in on that respective PC with Steam and you can play CS:S ... it be similar for HL2.

So, essentially, it's just like having the CD's - just burn the Steam folder (primarily to get the 3.1GB .gcf files) and you can install it on as man PC's as you like. Just remember not to tell people your account (username and p/w) because then you won't be able to play online ever, etc (common sense really).
