Lets stick to facts, shall we? You dont know that, nobody here knows that. A X800XT/PE might not even be able to do that. Certain parts of the game are bound to be more demanding than others, and the simple fact is you have not played the game. And there is no review out with the game.

Ackmed, I bet you $50 it runs it at those settings when HL2 and the Nv drivers that follow are released.

Only rule:

I won't believe a word coming from DriverHeaven or Beyond3D. The line for BS has to be drawn somewhere.

We can use FS or XB or even Anand.

I don't doubt that the 6800 series will rock HL2. As far as special ATI textures, I don't think its too crazy to believe that HL2 will showcase 3DC. If that is the case, then hardware using it will reveal some pretty nice imagery for a low performance price. After pondering this for a few days, I can't help but think, "How can ATI let Valve not use 3DC!?" We already know they are in bed together.

Your only rule should be, "Wait and see". I really doubt at 1600x1200 4xAA/8xAF that HL2 will never dip below 45 frames on a GT thruout the whole game. At least not with in-game settings that I would choose, i.e. not everything on low or medium.

And how is B3D's reviews BS?

I never said it would never dip below 45fps; But I 99.99% sure it will average 45+. I'm sure if I looked at the most graphic intensive part of the game and spun my mouse around I could lag it to the teens, but I'm talking normal game play demo. Hopefully Valve has put in a demo recording feature so we wont have to rely on Flyby's.

B3D does nothing but lick the sweat off of the Canuck's sack and post riveting articles of how Nv is or will cheat.

When they finally show that nv wins a benchmark they always have an excuse, or suggest there is something Nv is doing to win.

B3D article titles

"Ati X800 Pro: why its better then the 6800GT"

"6800U Extreme: causes cancer in orphans?"

"Ati X800PE: the second coming?"

Sure you did.

It doesnt say an average of 45 frames, it says 45+. Meaning it wont go below it. I can maybe see an average of 45 frames, maybe not. Depends on the in-game and driver quality settings. The simple fact is, we dont know yet.

Can you show me any article where they were not factual? I dont see the articles you say, in the articles section; http://www.beyond3d.com/articles/index.php Did you mean reviews or somthing else?

The articles index points to articles form last year.

Although I do like the title "The way its meant to be reviewed"

last 5 reviews:

Sapphire Radeon X800 XT ViVo Review
ATI Catalyst Control Center
Sapphire Toxic X800 PRO VIVO Review
All-In-Wonder 9600 XT
GeCube Radeon X800 PRO Review

Yeah, they dont have a chubby for Ati ;)

Then there is the Ati/B3D shader competition, which was sponsored by Ati.

Only one entry per person will be allowed.

Sound like there is more going on then a unbiased review site to me.

Can you show me something in a review that is bias towards ATi, or anything else? I have yet to see anything thats not factual from B3D, and nothing that is bias in any review.

I value b3d's reviews the most and I bought a 6800gt after reading it.

Snowman, thats not a review, it a preview. Notice how it lacks benchmarks.

Ackmed: I'll agree.

All I really care about is how well my 9700pro runs HL2 @1024x768 with at last 4xAA 8xAF and highest quality mode. D3 really obsoleted my card overnite because it was coded to run better on nvidia hardware and caused me to back off on my settings (thanks a whole hell of alot there mr. Carmack!) and I want at least that kinda performance back.

Hopefully I will at least be able to run 2xAA 8xAF high Quality mode with HL2. Code me some performance Gabe baby!! :)

Rage187,

They did a 6800 series comparison last month Text and they have a 6600GT review up as well. They don't do ATi vs nV but I find that refreshing, I can always bring up a couple articles side by side and get the numbers I want :)

I didn't see any of those here..

They must not update their review index regularly.

That is odd they don't include nV related stuff there when there are ATi reviews with nwer dates
