Gamespot has a trailer for HalfLife 2: Aftermath up. Looks like they may be adding some horror themes to the game.

Trailer

(Didn't see this posted anywhere. Sorry if it's a repost)

Edit: A downloadable version is now available at Filefront

ooh, gotta check this out when i get back from work. wonder how much this will cost and if there will be a discount for HL 2 owners (yeah right, who am i kidding).

Heh, not sure if you were being sarcastic, but since you'll have to own HL2 to buy Aftermath, I'd say there won't be a discount for HL2 owners...

I just watched the teaser. Wow, I'm really excited for it! I hope Valve keeps working on these add-ons and just keeps pumping out good content for us. I hope this is cehap for Steam users ($25?). Althought it's taken some time, DoD:Source is almost here, along with the Lost Coast....should be fun.

Its a new level in HL2 they are releasing in a couple of weeks. It is suppose to really push high end video cards. HDR will be one of the features they use.

noooo

halflife is going the way of doom it seems, instead of providing an adventure they are just going to scare people, no fun.

I hope it wont go that way

I didn't watch the trailer, but that Ravenholme or whatever level in the original had me on edge.

very true, but they did it half life style, constant creepyness and random shockers

not doom3 style, constantly dark and predictable scares, too many games are going that way🙁

and ofcorse same type of monsters are per http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=33&threadid=1657271

ravenholm was rather weak after encountering monsters the 1st time. the jumpy zombies were scary like monsters closets - 1st time it freaks, then its just an annoyance. i was more impressed playing SOF2 than i was playing HL2

I'd say the coolest part of Ravenholm was that dude with the shotgun that you kept running into. If it hadn't been for him, Ravenholm would have been nothing. He really added that something extra that broke up the creepyness and gave the area some life.

Someone needs to host the high res version. I needed to sign up to download it then woopie it's the low res version(I guess you need to give them money to get what should be free) then it goes at ~45 kb/s. yay.

trailer is too fast/short to reveal much. i hope it's a long expansion game, not a 5-6 hour "look at HDR and stuff jumping out at you" fest.

Now to see if they announce a release date, have no possibility of making it, have some source code broken into, blame the slipped release on said hackers, get 'exposed' by the community when people view the code and realize they are nowhere near finishing the game, then finally buckle down and produce/deliver a game that is good, if not overhyped.

Ravenholme wasn't really HL-feeling to me at all, sorta just stuck out. It wasn't until the end if that level, the 'light at the end of the tunnel,' when the music came on, that I felt like "Yeah, I'm playing Half Life."
