whats the difference between regular Half Life and Half Life: Game of the Year edition?

also, where's the cheapest place to get half life? i want to play some counter strike 🙂

GOTY edition includes Team Fortress Classic. i think that's it..
get the cheapest one you can find for counterstrike. sorry, i don't know where that is.

The difference is just that GOTY edition comes pre-patched (TFC is not something extra, it is just part of the regular patches). They don't make regular HL anymore, just GOTY and the other big packages like the one that comes with OpFor. Just get GOTY if you want to play CS cheap.
 
I have Half-Life: GOTY and my friend has Half-Life. The only thing that I saw different was that I had TFC pre-packaged in mine. However, there was like a 2 hour dial up download upgrade waiting for me by the time I bought it..

It always used to be better to get GOTY, especially on dialup, b/c it saved you a massive download. But they've since patched it beyond the GOTY version of TFC (they're up to TFC 1.5something) so it doesn't matter which version
