I dl'd the no-steam version before I bought the retail. My rig is suckier than yours (P4 1.6 Ghz, Gf4 ti4200) and it ran it pretty smoothly. I ran it offline and didn't have to worry with all that steam decrypting bs either 🙂.

Other than you not being able to read or comprehend that we have different forums for a reason and not making a reasonable effort to keep things organized, I thoght HL2 looked fantastic and had great gameplay --but the storyline sucked hardcore and that's what kills it for me.

Half-Life 2: Awesome. It runs just fine on my 2000XP, GeFX5700, 1GB Ram. Had problems installing it, put the disc in another drive, no problems then.

Never had ANY problem that I didn't mention above. Anyone having problems needs to learn to troubleshoot a PC better. But if english comprehension isn't your thing (clearly not) then I don't see that coming any time soon.

PS: The issue you are having is MOST LIKELY a video card overheating problem. I would put $5 on it. Play until it starts hitting the freezes then check your temps.

Get your head out of your as*, then read on further. It was a quick note, I don't have the time to sit on my ass and post all day like you. You need a life or least step away from the monitor and take a shower.

As far as the pc troubleshooting, I build the damn things. Oh he!! an idiot like you does not need an explanation.

Alright, that is true. However, the first few insults are just what ATOT'ers do. I have the same problem with the messed up Steam downloads. On my now defunct (waiting for parts) XP3200+ system I had to download a few of the .gcf files a couple of times to get everything to work. Now with my A64 system I've been getting the same thing, but even worse:

1. Format new system, install HL2 - doesn't even launch
2. Delete all .gcf files, re-acquire via steam - gets to menu screen for 5 seconds then crashes
3. Uninstall/reinstall steam and re-acquire hl2 - can get in game, but textures are messed up and game crashes after 30 seconds
4. Re-delete hl2 and source .gcf files, re-acquire again - messed up textures and physics issues
5. See #5 above
6. Download pirated copy of hl2 DVD, decompress the .gcf files from the .cabs on the DVD, copy to proper Steam folder - game works great.

At each step I used valve's .gcf checking program (steam checks the .gcf files for corruption) and it passed at every step, yet I still had major problems.

That being said, it is a great game to play though 🙂

I respond to people the way they treat me. Take a look at ALL the posts. The people who were kidding with me, I replied kindly.

The people who were rude, I responded accordingly. I came here here to blow some steam off (no pun intended) and people with nothing better to do in their pathetic lives other then to insult people make personal attacks on me.
