I got it free when I bought an ATI All in Wonder 9600 Pro XT last year. I downloaded it, it said it was done but my cable connection was going nuts. It started up and was downloading it again. I started it up it up and can't play it for more then 10 minutes because it will freeze and the sound just keeps looping. Valve says reinstalling........... SCREW THAT then I will have to download it again. Valve says install lastest drivers, DOOHHH I have - always do. Valve says your machine is not big enough. Horse crap. AMD XP 2500 oc'ed to 2.3 gig. 1 gig ram, 80 mg 8 meg cache Seagate hd, Nvidia 6800 GT video card, SB Audigy 2.

Valve support sucks thier Steam device really sucks AS* The game is just a big pile of SHI*.
 
your machine is OC'ed, are you sure that you have enough voltage going to your memory?

the game makes me nauseous. i cant play more than 30 mins at a time. i dunno why. no other game did this to me. running on a gf6800, xp2700+, and 1 gig 3200 RAM. playing at 1280x1024 on a 21" CRT at trilinear filtering and 2x AA

there is a whole thread in the steam troubleshooting forums on this, apparantely it does happen with other games

Serious Sam First and Second do that to me.
 
i was just playing the demo. It only has chpt 5 in it. It gets pretty old to be incessantly attached by those bouncing nutsacks.

Oh yeah and that big brother feature is annoying as f*ck.

The graphics are really well optimized though, runs 1280x960 on a 9100.
 
Its a great game, but replay value for me kinda sucked. Deathmatch is so-so, hopefully some kinda new mod will resurrect my $60. (shoulda waited for it to go to $40)

Steam: Awesome. 1000 times better getting small updates once a week automatically than going to connect to a game and being unable to because I don't have a patch... then having to wait 10 hours to download the damn patch AFTER finding a site whose bandwidth hasn't been killed.

Half-Life 2: Awesome. It runs just fine on my 2000XP, GeFX5700, 1GB Ram. Had problems installing it, put the disc in another drive, no problems then.

CS:S: Still can't get enough of it. With the exception of some flaws that are being worked on, it's hard to think someone can make a game better than this.

HL2 DM: Don't care for it too much. Probably because I suck at it, though. 😉


Never had ANY problem that I didn't mention above. Anyone having problems needs to learn to troubleshoot a PC better. But if english comprehension isn't your thing (clearly not) then I don't see that coming any time soon.

PS: The issue you are having is MOST LIKELY a video card overheating problem. I would put $5 on it. Play until it starts hitting the freezes then check your temps.
