Not much more i can say really, other than i believe this site to be usually quite accurate, i.e. no Inq style articles here. (Hopefully, although nothing official from Intel yet)

I wanted to see the 3.33Ghz 1333FSB Conroe XE being released, guess we'll have to wait until the end of this year or beginning of next before that comes out. Also it would be pointless to release a 3.33Ghz model when at 2.93Ghz coupled with a 1066FSB would perform much better then anything AMD can combat with, even with a 65nm + speed bump on their K8.

AMD won't be able to come close to this, not even with this supposed little trick up AMD's sleeve (so the AT rumours say).

Also from what we have seen so far with the current ES Conroes and Bad Axe mobo?s around, it is going to be quite easy to hit 2.9Ghz plus on air, even with air cooling.

Now this is definitely a new era of processor overclocking indeed. I Look forward to peoples OC results soon.

I'm just wondering whether 4MB's of L2 cache on the higher models against 2MB's on the lower models, will really offer that much more performance or not, or much noticeable performance. This will be the debate when purchasing the bang for the buck OC processor, much like today?s normal recommendation of the AMD X2 3800+ or 165.

July 23 has been stated as the date by quite a few sources now, so I would tend to believe it. But remember, that's the shipping date, not the date you can go buy one...in general, it takes up to 2 months for availability in stores for the CPU (though often you can buy one much sooner for a big premium...). I estimate that NewEgg will have them in August/Sept.

As to the cache, you have to remember that Intel engineers are very smart people...
The cost of manufacturing the 4MB cache is higher than the rest of the CPU because of it's size! If it's that expensive, you have to assume they did it for a reason...

Rumor has it.. Intel plans on actually having in retailers hands.. prior to July 23rd. Goal is to have to retailers by middle of July.

Too early to tell when it will really be out and available though.

that intel hype machine.. it keeps a goin.

I wish I could find the post, but there were a couple of people here that actually talked to Intel reps who confirmed the Aug/Sept availability...

As the slides appear to originate from Intel's regular vendor briefings, the information provided by HKEPC Hardware is credible.

Not sure why July 23 should come as much of a surprise, though. It basically firms up the anticipated July launch. Back on May 7, Intel spokesperson George Alfs noted that the launch date for Conroe, the desktop version, is currently slated for July.
