Lets see if I can get my arms around the werepossim statement of "It's a good rule of thumb that if you elect self-proclaimed terrorists as your government, your standard of living will be somewhat primitive."

Given the fact that Israel elected the former bomb throwers named Begin and Mier as Israeli prime ministers, that therefore Israel has a primitive standard of living. Not to mention the fact that Sharon was a war criminal and Olmert got tossed out on corruption charges.

Or we could talk about the good ole USA, the rascally terrorists like G. Washington, T. Jefferson, and B. Franklin set up a nation that did not prosper.

Maybe you need to try your reasoning again werepossim cause you just got debunked. Got any more bogus reasoning you want to float over like a lead balloon.

Your garbage may work for those that do not think, but bogus reasoning is and remains garbage.

Begin and Sharon threw bombs at soldiers, from the British and assorted Arab armies, to drive them out. Terrorists throw bombs at civilians, to cause terror. Begin and Sharon were not terrorists.

Haven't read the whole thread, but I'm thinking that if Hezbollah has the capability they boast of, let them attack.
They don't want to attack, they want to deter Israel from attacking Lebanon again.

Truth is as it's always been, if Israel laid down their weaponst today they would be gone tomorrow, if Israels enemies laid down their weapons today, there would be peace tomorrow.
That is what the bullshit propoganda has always been.

Israel could destroy it's enemies in a heartbeat.
Not without bringing on more political fallout than the nation could likely endure, hence the reason the ongoing conquest of Palestine is done at a far slower pace.

All Israel wantsto do is be left in peace.
If that was all Israel wanted, they wouldn't refuse the two-state solution on the basis of international law that Palestinians and the vast majority of the nations of the world support.

Begin and Sharon threw bombs at soldiers, from the British and assorted Arab armies, to drive them out. Terrorists throw bombs at civilians, to cause terror. Begin and Sharon were not terrorists.
You can find a list of terror attacks involving Begin's Irgun here, including a lot of murdered civilians. I'm not familiar with Sharon's pre-state days, but he got right to terrorising Palestinians soon after, as recounted here.

Seriously man, try thinking of the situation from their perspective for a moment. They know damn well they can't even hope to build up the force needed to conquer Israel, but they can maintain a force strong enough to make attempting to conquer Southern Lebanon more trouble than it's worth to Israel, and that is what they are doing. Also note that the claim that Hezbollah infiltrated Israel to start the 2006 Lebanon war is contested by conflicting reports. I'm not rightly in a position to determine which story is correct, but you can be damn sure that even if Israel is telling the truth the vast majority of Hezbollah believe it was Israel who crossed the border.

Now you're just making a joke of yourself. These IDF soldiers were on reserve duty, and never had anything to do with being a commando. The area of the incident was very well documented, unless you claim Israel burned down Humvees in the Israeli side to fake the incident.
These soldiers was on a patrol on the Israeli side.
I mean, read the reports on that site, they are laughable at best, with each news source (Hindustan times? come on) citing a different version.

Even Nassarallah himself said they were wrong in initiating this incident, he wouldn't have done this were the troops on the Lebanese side.

It's probably very easy for you to go throwing shit around, but it'll still remain just that - shit. It sure makes debating much tougher, though.

And why the fuck would Israel want Southern Lebanon? It saw no hostile activity from Israel until the PLO began using it for attacking Israel. See yourself here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1978_South_Lebanon_conflict

Beirut in April 1978

Though it took the form of an Israeli military incursion into Southern Lebanon, Operation Litani was grounded in the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict. From 1968 on, the PLO, Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and other Palestinian groups established a quasi-state in southern Lebanon, using it as a base for raids on civilian targets in northern Israel. This was exacerbated by an influx of 3,000 PLO militants fleeing a defeat in the Jordanian civil war and regrouping in southern Lebanon. Israel responded with damaging attacks against PLO bases. Violence escalated, eventually culminating in the 1982 Lebanon War and the ejection of the PLO from the country.

On 11 March 1978, 11 Fatah members led by the 18-year old female Dalal Mughrabi travelled from Lebanon and killed an American tourist on the beach. They then hijacked a bus on the coastal road near Haifa, and en route to Tel Aviv commandeered a second bus. After a lengthy chase and shootout, 37 Israelis were killed and 76 wounded.[1] This, the Coastal Road Massacre, was the proximate cause of the Israeli invasion three days later. (Cobban, p.94, Shlaim p.369) The PLO-Israeli conflict increased political tensions between Maronite Christians and Druze to the Muslims, adding to the factors behind the 1975–1990 Lebanese Civil War.[2]

So I guess these people are just saintly freedom fighters.
Until that point, Israel had nothing to do with Southern Lebanon. So much for land grab theories, eh.
