What? That's not even the point! The point is, he should've known about the guy's condition before offering to help. If I have something that'll be guaranteed to kill you, I'll make damn sure you know it if I'm spilling blood around the workplace.

ANd that would be your right to tell him. But, you also have the right not to tell him.

Well, I just went back and read the first post and according to it, you don't even know for sure that he is HIV+. You heard it 'through the grapevine' so to speak. Maybe it's a rumor and the guy who bled don't even know you think he is HIV+.

Er..sorry for not clarifying but this is no RUMOUR. The acct guy and him are relatives...thats why he was given the job...
as assistant he made exactly 50%, not a penny less than me even though he took orders from me. He was helping his cousin
out so he gave him the job...something about he needed money...only later was i told about why he needed money...poor
dude contracted hiv. I felt bad for him...and then about 15min later it hit me and i was..WTF!?

This guy who cut himself and spread his infected blood all over and then let you come in contact with it should be arrested for
assault and attempted murder Imo. I have nothing against people who have HIV, but when someone blatantly puts someone else's life at risk so they don't have to feel awkward or embarrassed or wtf ever he might have been feeling at the moment they
should be dealt with immediately, this guys a major A-hole.

Now with that said, I hope we all learned something, all human blood should be treated as Bio hazard and use the proper
clean-up procedures.

i guess its kinda my stupidity now that i think back...i mean i know enuff about aids/hiv
but i never was really conscious about prevention...people around me bleed all the time...like people, friends,
kids at home...i get up close and personal to the wound and clean up, wash, salivate on it...etc.
Never bothered me...so i guess i just totally let my guard down, and assume my immediate 'community' is
clean. However, i do feel its uncool for the dude to not tell me anything or deter me from helping him...
especially when i was real nice to him and teaching him stuff etc.

Your risk was negligible, it's arguable whether disclosure was needed. (I am not choosing sides here, I just understand the ambiguity.)

A 13 week HIV antibody test is considered conclusive. Most people seroconvert (produce antibodies for the virus) within 3-6 weeks after exposure.
