Hitting the Remote

Have any of you ever tried hitting the remote or some other electronic device when it isn't working? Any when you did this did it work again? Is there a reason why this actually works?

For me it's usually because the battery contacts have corroded and are also slightly bent, and/or similar things have happened to whatever switch I need to press. Sometimes whacking it will move stuff around just enough that it contacts good 'nuff. Of course there's always the eventuality that I whack it and the thing falls part...

It works! I use to hit my old monitor and it'd stop flickering.

there could be an infinite number of reasons...the most common is batteries no longer in contact with the proper pinouts in typical poorly designed consumer remotes.

Happens to me all the time. Could just be a loose connection or something like that I'd guess.

i'm not all that impressed with the harmony i have. i forget which one it is, but i got for sale for $69.99 or so at amazon.

edit: and yes there are times when things don't work that I feel like taking a bat to it but I usually just drop down and do pushups, try to powerlift the fridge or something of the sort to make use of the adrenaline.

That's pretty funny. I lol'ed. But yeah, sometimes the buttons stick or something and if you whack it it'll start working again. I think most remotes have kind of a time out that if a button is held down it will stop sending the commands after so many times because if a remote gets stuck under a couch cushion it'll kill the batteries.
