ok, im running 512 Kingston pc3200 @400 2.5-3-3-7. when i set the multi to 13, the system will not post, and that post lady on the a7n8x dlx tells me that the system failed the memory test. ive tried to up the volts, mem and proc(its a 3000 Barton), but nothing helps. Initially, i thought ok, my rams hitting the roof.... however, why would it do that when i change the multi? it works just fine at 12.5x200, but not 13... i noticed my 12v Rail on my PSU was 12.8, as reported from the ASUS Pc Probe... thought that was a little odd. the other rails seem to be pretty much on target, the 5v rail is at 4.972, the 3.3v rail is at 3.312. so, any suggestions?

Never believe the motherboard voltage readings. They are wrong most of the time.
I think it could just be the cpu. Even if the power supply is weak, it should still at least boot. It's not like booting taxes the PS at all. Did you try a multi of 12.5?

i did, that was in my orig post. it also does like 207x12.5 which puts it at 2595.17MHz, so im pretty dang sure its not the Processor. the PSU, by the way, is a generic 350w that came with my case.

I still think it could be the cpu. The 1700+ I used to have would do 12.5 x 200 but not 13 even if I dropped the FSB a bit. And that was with the Atec 480 watt that I'm still using.
I hope you figure it out anyhow.🙂

The PSU isn't going to keep your system from POSTing.

doesn't the CPU has a multiplier lock?

nope, the CPU is one of the early ones that is completly open.. if it wasnt, then it would be locked at 13 anyway 😛

well, crap. i was hoping it wasnt the proc but i guess so... ill mess with it some more later, but thats kinda disapointing. i like having the irrelevant to anything " i can do it " feeling... lol

ok, i finally got it posting AND running in safe mode at 200*13, just had to tinker with the FSB while the multi was at 13 for a while, upping it notch by notch. NOW, when xp pro boots up, i get a BSOD when its loading all my taskbar stuff. any suggestions? or is it just the proc?
